Solar panels are typically ground mounted or roof mounted. Under these conditions rooftop solar panels may not be as effective as a ground mounted solar installation. Both options have unique benefits and make sense for different household situations and needs. Ground mounted solar pv systems are commonly used in large commercial or utility photovoltaic projects.

Other options include pole mounting and wall mounting but these are less popular and more bespoke. Roof mount systems affix to brackets on your roof while ground mount systems are built into a foundation at ground level. There is no best solar panel mounting option. As their name suggests ground mounted solar panels are ones that are installed on the ground as opposed to the roof.
